Founded in 1997, Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH) helps girls transform their lives and grow in confidence, leadership, and academic achievement. FSH is the only organization in the world for girls of color that combines the power of education with access to the artistic discipline of figure skating to build champions in life. FSH’s holistic approach to youth development recognizes that both academic achievement and health education play a pivotal role in combating systemic challenges that girls face, especially those growing up within a culture of generational poverty. For Wollman, FSH will partner to identify and implement in-season opportunities for skating competitions and clinics, as well as using the space as a venue for FSH’s popular summer camps. We also see Wollman as a potential workforce option for FSH participants, as instructors, counselors, and in operational support for the facility. And not least, Wollman can be a compelling location for FSH’s annual gala and other fundraising events, all of which support the organization’s mission to change lives through the power of skating and education.
